Winter Forest é uma banda de black Metal ambiente formada por Cassio F. Becker (L.Winter) sendo uma “One Man Band" com a produção de Diego Voges (D.V).
Fundada em 2005 por Cassio F. Becker, de Capão da Canoa/RS- Brasil
O seu primeiro álbum, intitulado "Despair" foi lançado em Agosto de 2007, e gravado no Estúdio U.F.O, RS, Brasil, 2006 - 2007, seguidos do álbum Destiny, com as músicas Hope, Distant from Illusion e Senseless Life gravadas entre 2007 e 2009.
A principal fonte de inspiração da Winter Forest é o Niilismo como concepção filosófica.
Seu tema lírico é baseado na estória do ancião e do bebê que ainda não nasceu. Ambos abordam o tema do Niilismo de forma profunda. Sendo o homem velho representa as dores do mundo, atrasos, crenças limitantes e seus “vermes” são o conceito moral projetado para o ser humano que o prendem num mundo hipócrita. O bebê representa o novo, o homem em sua primazia e alta performance, sem barrar o conhecimento.
As faixas da Winter seguem uma sequência lógica abordando esses temas.
O Niilismo abordado pela Winter, é baseado na ideia de não existir base que determine/objetive a existência real do bem e do mal, não há “verdades absolutas” que alicerçam a moral, os hábitos ou as tradições. O Ubermensch é ilimitado em consciência e conhecimento.
Note que o termo niilismo é utilizado de diferentes maneiras e para a Winter Forest, deve ser encarada de forma aprofundada: Para alguns estudiosos é um termo negativo, pessimista, associado à destruição e negação de todos os princípios (sociais, políticos, religiosos). Já para outros filósofos que o estudam profundamente, e para a Winter, a essência do conceito, se observada de maneira mais minuciosa, pode levar a libertação do ser humano.
